"Blues Streak"

Summery: The article "Blues Steak" is about Kenny Wayne Shepherd a blues guitar player. It talks about his personal life and his life with blues music. The article starts with him being asked "Is the present day and age a good time to be playing the blues?", he replies, "Anytime I get to play the blues is a good time to play the blues. And I fell like the blues is a kind of on an upswing now, specially in Europe...Once you're a a converted blues fan, you just don't ever get tired of the blues". He lived with blues his whole life being born in the blues-historic Shreveport, Louisiana, he started playing the guitar at age four. When he was giving the honor of playing the same guitar that Jimi Hendrix played at Woodstock, he didn't feel like he was worthy enough to play it, he said, "It felt like I was not only wearing somebody else's shoes but had them on the wrong feet, too". Four years ago he got married to Hannah Gibson and had three kids in the last four years. He finds times to take care of his family and at the same time go on tour and create song.

Analysis: This demonstrates some influence from guitars in the article, and one is the creation of a guitar world. Like the article says when Kenny Wayne got the chance to play the same guitar that Jimi Heinrick's used in Woodstock he felt very honorable, just like a singer singing the national anthem in the Superbowl. The creation of this world brings people together in sharing what they enjoy doing and make a living out of it. The article also talks about how Kenny Wanye, just by being born in Shreveport, Louisiana, brought him to the world of guitars, in playing the blues. The guitar influinced the place to become a blue's historic just by being a very important instrument in the blues.

Refelction Question: How did the influince of the guitar create such a world that people passionate about the instrument interact with each other.

  1. I think your refletion question is really interesting because guitars, and music itself, are not only something someone does just for fun but it is also a way for people to interact and connet with each other.

  2. I think the fact that the guitar is a soothing and even romantic instrument that people find so easily to listen to in any genre of music. This draws people to be so intrigued and passionate about it since it is used in so many ways.
